Taking your Client's Photo:

• Webcam (3Com HomeConnect, Genius Webcam, Creative WebCam, Aiptek, Logitech, QuickCam, etc...) or
• Digital Camera (Kodak, Sony, Casio, Epson, Olympus, Samsung, Fuji, Canon, etc...) or
• Video Camera (Camcorder, Handycam) connected to a video capture board (Pixelview PlayTV, ATI TV, Video Blaster, etc...) or
• Scanner (Genius, HP, Logitech, etc...).

How to capture:

• Position the person in front of a well lighted white background.

• Pull the person's hair back, so that it conforms as closely as possible to the shape of her head and does not appear in any way in the frontal view or it will interfere with your final results.
  

• For the software to work properly, the photo has to be taken from a full frontal view. Enough space should exist in the photo so that the various hairstyles will fit in the photo. Keep the camera at least two and a half to three feet from your client. Now click on the Twain Acquire Button . A small viewer screen will appear. Adjust the camera until you have your client properly centered in the frame. When ready, click on the Capture button. Your client's photo will now appear on the main screen. If you are not satisfied with the photo, then repeat the process until your are satisfied with the results. You may have to experiment with this a bit. To save this photo click on the Menu option "File > Save As". Now type in your client's name where it says "File Name" and click on the button "Save".

• If you are capturing your photos with an external program, save the photo as BMP, GIF or JPG, in the "C:\Program Files\Hair Pro 9.0\Photos" directory.

• IMPORTANT: We recommend that you paint the background of the photo white, leaving just the person's head and shoulders (see the picture above), for best results. To paint the background white, use the Retouch tool "Pencil" and the Color Panel's Line Width drop-down list . Click on the Color Mix button arrow and a drop-down list of standard colors will appear. Then choose the color white .

  TIP: How to quickly paint the background of the photo: Use the Lasso Select tool to select the background of the photo. To do that select the entire contour of the person. Then press ESC to delete the background, thus turning it white!
